The technology promises fuel economy

Aware of shrinking energy resources and emission reduction pressure, nearly all automakers attending the 2010 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition brought their latest green technologies.

Automakers interviewed Friday by the Global Times including Toyota, General Motors, Ford and Daimler believe electric vehicles will most likely dominate the future auto market. Yet due to uncertainties and technical obstacles, they will stay focused mainly on technologies based on traditional internal combustion engines, hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

\"One thing for sure is that a new energy will replace oil. And we believe electric energy and fuel cells will be the most promising,\" Toyota Motor (China) world of warcraft power leveling Investment president Masahiro Kato told the Global Times.

\"Yet it\'s hard to foretell world of warcraft power leveling when the time will come, and there must be a transitional period to go from internal combustion to electrification,\" he said.

Kato said it will take quite a long time to produce electric vehicles with light batteries and performance and driving range comparable to internal combustion cars.

Toyota\'s concept new energy vehicle lineup includes the FT-CH compact hybrid, making its Asia Pacific debut, the FT-EV II electric vehicle with wow Power Leveling, a newly developed motor and lithium-ion battery, making its Chinese debut, and the Prius plug-in hybrid, also making its Chinese debut.

T o y o t a plans to test launch wow Power Leveling its plug-in hybrid vehicle in China soon and is also considering a new model aimed at the country\'s small-size, low-price market segment within five years, the Wall Street Journal reported, quoting Takeshi Uchiyamada, Toyota\'s executive vice president.

Toyota fenced of its stand at the show, which started Friday and runs till May 2, allowing only a small group of media members to enter.

Ford Motor plans to increase electric and hybrid vehicles to 20-25 percent of its lineup by 2020. Out of that amount, 70 percent will be hybrids, 20-25 percent will be plug-in hybrids and the remainder will be electric vehicles.

In the next three years, Ford is expected to launch four green vehicles.

\"But we believe the petroleum engine will stay in a high role. That\'s why we are still focusing on fuel efficient powertrain technologies like EcoBoost,\" Robert J. Graziano, Ford Motor Company vice president and the chairman and CEO of Ford Motor (China), told the Global Times.

EcoBoost refers to wow gold, a series of turbocharged Ford engines tuned to produce the power of larger motors with the gas mileage of smaller ones.

The technology promises fuel economy wow gold improvements of up to 20 percent and reductions in CO2 emissions of up to 15 percent.

Ford said later this year it will equip the Ford Mondeo in China with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder EcoBoost engine.

Mercedes-Benz\'s Asia premieres wow power leveling, included the F800 Style, which can operate as a plug-in hybrid vehicle and is designed to consume only 2.9 liters of fuel per 100 kilometer or run on fuel cells alone.

Continuing the green theme, wow power leveling Audi showcased the Asia premier of its A8 hybrid and electric A1 e-tron car.

Chinese battery and carmaker BYD brought the electric F3DM, which has been launched already in China. The car is priced between 149,800- 169,800 yuan ($21,942- $24,872).

It also is showing the yet-to-be-launched electric vehicle E6, which boasts a 300-kilometer range.

Changan brought wow gold, six electric vehicles, three hybrids wow gold and three low-carbon and efficient engines.

Beijing Automotive brought its world debut electric vehicle BE701, which is expected to be mass produced later this year. The vehicle has a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour, with a 200-kilometer-range.
